Windmill rock & Garnet Hill, April 6, 2013

posted May 14, 2013, 1:33 PM by ShadowMountain Gem&MineralSociety

Saturday Wind Adventure turned into a really fun trip.  We met at 9:00 AM, thirteen strong for a local 10 mile trip with John Zedler leading along a dirt road near windmills.  Picture rock in all colors, shapes and sizes for great yard rock.  I have a whole bucket.  Fred found one with a half a dozen target circles on the face.

We crossed the freeway to Garnet Hill area which actually runs several miles along the freeway to the south and east.  The far side of the hills has some marine deposits along with garnets.  Four or 5 of us found the small stones laying in the sand.

The wind blew all day long but no one really cared.

Thank you, Marge Buxton
