Chuckwalla Field Trip, April 28, 2012

posted Apr 30, 2012, 12:41 PM by ShadowMountain Gem&MineralSociety

There were SIX of us in two 4wd vehicles.

Some of the folks who signed up for this trip were frightened off because they did not get the right weather prediction, and they thought it would be too hot! Well, the weather was delightful!!

The six of us found some wonderful material.  This area is so vast and the weather can be so harsh that no matter how many years we have been searching and collecting there, more beautiful treasures continue to be exposed.

Some very blue nodules were found, and we are anxious to slice them in search of the rainbows called Iris Agate!

After over 4 ½ hours we were all satisfied with our finds,  and were beginning to get tired.  ICE CREAM was calling!

We found the Desert Center Café “Closed for Repairs” so we went on to the Chiriaco Summit Coffee Shop.  What wonderful treats they have there!

The banana split was absolutely gorgeous!  Almost as beautiful as some of our agate nodules!

Our thanks to John Zedler for leading this trip!
