September Holbrook Field trip Report

It's been said, this trip may have been the most exciting and adventurous trip to Holbrook yet. Our intrepid group of Shadow Mountain Gem & Mineral Society members went off to explore the Holbrook, AZ area in early September. Looks like they found plenty of Petrified Wood, September rain and Arizona mud. High on their list of places to visit was the private Petrified Wood Ranch but they were soon out collecting on their own. While not telling the best locations for their hunt for petrified wood, it was revealed that the deepest mud was found in Joseph City. Sun Valley was another place mentioned for more mud, fun and petrified wood. Sounds like Fred's Humvee lost a three hour struggle in the mud and ended up needing a new transmission. However adventurous, everyone returned safe and brought home spectacular specimens of Holbrook Arizona Petrified Wood.
